Meet Olly...

What does your role at Sandler Training involve?
I’m focussed on making sure we deliver for our clients. I look after our onboarding, mixed group training programmes and in-house sessions to ensure our clients are successful. I also prospect, sell, train and coach.

What are your favourite things about working at Sandler Training?
Working in a demanding role that improves personal performance.

What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?
Working with clients to help them achieve their professional goals.

What were you doing before working at Sandler Training?
After leaving university with a degree in Philosophy I was unsuccessful in my application to be become a librarian. Instead got a job in IT sales at a large corporation. My parents were over the moon with their investment in my education.

Top tips you would give to someone in a sales/customer service/marketing/leadership role?
Have a prospecting plan and do it – To quote Warren Buffet ‘An idiot with a plan beats a genius without a plan.’
Start with the end in mind – Most sales meetings are poorly planned, if planned at all
Become a master of asking great questions – It’s your secret weapon to setting yourself apart from the rest of the pack

What are the most common challenges your clients face?
Getting into conversations with new prospects
Identifying opportunities in those conversations
Turning those opportunities in to sales in a controlled manner.

What do you think makes Sandler unique to any other training provider?
When we’re not training clients to prospect and sell we’re prospecting and selling. That doesn’t necessarily make us unique but it makes us credible.

What is one thing that surprised you about Sandler Training?
How close everyone is. For a global organisation with 2000 people working under it, you can pick up the phone and ask anyone for advice.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Irritating my wife with Jazz music.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Pickled Onion Monster Munch. A hangover from childhood that I can’t shift.

Have you got a life motto?
Memento Mori

What is your biggest achievement?
Convincing my wife I was husband material

Can you tell me an interesting fact about yourself?
I once played a gig with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. They didn’t invite me back.

We have just completed the Sales Foundations course and have moved on to Mastery and have found the skills and methodology taught amazing in driving our sales processes and getting all members of the team on the same page. It helps deal with every element of the sales process and customer journey and give practical actionable advice which can be implemented instantly. The continued re-enforcement and support is fantastic and helps ensure that the behaviours are engrained as a sales culture helping to drive results.
